Åntes, På’go yan Mo’na – Then, Now and Beyond

A journey across time through the eyes of weavers

Buenas yan Håfa Adai for visiting the official page for Åntes, På’go yan Mo’na, an art exhibition featuring the weaving of the Chamorro people!  Four weavers have come together to showcase weaving at a whole new level.  This is not your standard static display of woven goods with descriptive placards.

Prepare to take a journey across the millennia, as Mark, Jose, Thomas and I weave together the stories of our people as we share our lives with you through our creations which have been created through the traditional techniques passed down in our families, generation after generation.

As a new chapter in the weaving of the Marianas Islands unfolds before us, we, the weavers of different families have come together to share knowledge and grow as a new family, a family of weavers, not bound by blood, but by a mission to affect change and promote the survival of one of our people’s oldest forms of traditional knowledge.

Please join us on our opening reception, January 8, 2016 from 6:00-9:00pm ChST at the Guam Council of the Arts and Humanities Agency (CAHA) Art Gallery, located in the 1st floor of the Terlaje Bldg, in beautiful and historic Hagåtña, Guåhan.  The exhibit will open on January 8, 2016, and continue till the 29th of January, 2016 and is open during CAHA Art Gallery hours of operations, 8:00am – 5:00pm ChST!
